Date: Wed, 14 Aug 2002 17:12:28 -0400 Subject: 08/13 - Rushmore, Custer Park, Needle Highway
Today was a busy day. We went up to Mt. Rushmore, walked all the trails, and toured all the facilities. It was very impressive. I can't imagine trying to work on the sculpture while hanging on one of those slings. After we finished there, we drove through Custer State Park, including going all the way up to the fire tower - what a view. We saw more Bison, Deer and Donkeys. Then, we drove the Needle Highway. It took a while to get to the Needles, but it was worth the drive. Going through the tunnels was a trip too. There were a couple that were only 8 feet 7 inches wide and our Suburban is 7 foot 6 inches. Not a lot of room to spare! Finally, we visited Wind Cave. It's been a busy day and it's getting late, so I'll wrap up with some pictures (the Wind Cave pics didn't come out). |
